I wish/hope that one year the MLB will go on either a 1 year strike or a lock down to fix a couple of things just like NHL did.... I am tired of the fact that more teams have more $ than others... Those ******* Yankees have so much damn $ up their *** that we all know they are going to be good every darn year... The same way for the other top ten teams that have so much $. I believe EVERY team should have the same $ that way every team has the same chance of doing well... Making baseball more fun to watch.... If they would do this. MORE people would watch games country wide. MORE people would go to games. MORE people would buy more merchandise.... thats MORE $$ for the stadium and teams..... It pisses me off that the only teams with great great players are the ones with the BIG cash... I live in Pittsburgh and we are like 5 to the bottom of the list and we will NEVER be good because we need more freakin CASH! I hope either they go on a strike and fix this or either get rid of baseball!

There will always be that uneven balance in teams. It happens to every sport, even sports with salary caps, such as football and especially basketball. But if you think about the way it is now, isn't it nice to see teams suddenly work up and beat the guys on top? Yankees can spend all they want on star players, that doesn't mean they perform well as a team. Look at them this year, they are struggling. Look at the Florida Marlins in 2003, they won the World Series and their payroll doesn't even warrant them being near a big market team, back then and especially now. One thing that makes baseball fun, and keeps the integrity of the game are those small market teams, like the Marlins, the Athletics, and this year the Brewers, shock the world. Going on strike would greatly hurt the game in the delicate state it already is in with all the steroid allegations, the scandals, and what not. The last thing they need is a strike.

A strike doesn't help baseball at all. Do you remember the last strike??? It almost killed the teams on the bottom of that list (the ones that were around anyways). Besides, players are the ones that would go on strike, and they won't strike to get lower salaries. Thats ridiculous. A lock out wouldn't do any good either, because the players union is so strong, no slary cap deal would ever be made. I live in KC and teams like the Pirates and Royals can be good again, it just has to come through building talent from your farm system. Minnesota isn't far up that list, and they're a good team, have bben for years.

Hunter - I think a lot us would like some kind of spending cap, but it's not going to happen for a long time. The MLBPA is the strongest players' union in any sport, and they've been beating the owners in negotiations for the past 40 years.

The biggest thing that needs to happen for your wish to come true is to have fans speak with their wallets. They need to stop attending games, paying for the Extra Innings package, and buying merchandise licensed by MLB. Even as we complain about rising prices, MLB keeps producing record revenues enough that they can continually raise the luxury tax threshold.

I don't have a problem with your idea, and I believe a little more parity would be nice, but I'm extremely pessimisitc of it ever happening.

There won't be a strike over this because the teams that are paying so much $$$$ are making even more $$$$$$. I agree that there needs to be some sort of salary cap (Let's say 120m) but there also needs to be a salary floor (Let's say 45m) so that teams (owners) like the Marlins can't sell off all their assets and keep the fans completely disinterested.

Is there a question here? No. You want a strike? Are you insane? It is lock out, not lock down. This ain't prison yet.
