80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

There are things people want to know, we're human, it's our nature to want knowledge, all knowledge, everything.
'what happened to the dinosaurs' 'did humans eveolve from monkeys' 'did oj really do it' but to be hnoest, there will always be something getting in our way. I think this is one of those things that no matter how much you may push forward and search for the answer, wheter you spend your entire life, or a lazy weekend.....in the end, i think it will become self evident in your life, you just have to sit back and let the answer come to you.
oh,and 42 is a good answer as well

What is the meaning of life?
is the most usual question! something that concerns over the 95% of the people! my point of view is that whenever you stop searching for something is coming right in front of your eyes!! so stop minding so much and just live it! without what and why! and then you ll find your OWN meaning of life! cause l don't believe that there is one answer for all of us! different persons, different meaning of life ;o)

The meaning of life is the precise moment of the present.

From what I can collect, it has to do with your soul. Because without a soul, there wouldn't be a life. So without a life there would be anything to enjoy the Universe. If there wasn't anything to enjoy the Universe, then why should it be there at all.

Everyone is different, just as we are not made the same, we all have different ideas and idyllic dreams about what life should offer and take from us in return.

It's not so much what you take with you along the way, it's what you leave behind when you are gone that counts.

Life is a sheet on which we trace our beliefs and track our course.....it's just one trip on the merry-go-round.

Scientifically it is the purpose to reproduce. From another point, it is to love and be loved and everything else can only be defined by the person living their life.
