I start out new rotors with soft stock style pads. Then switch over to performance friction carbon metalic. Or Hawk street pads. If you want maxium stopping Hawk has pads (blue) that will machine your rotors thin in a couple weeks. Proper beding of pads is critical when replacing brake parts.

Go for a Hard compound like EBC's red pads. The normal greenstuff pads get eaten alive by slotted rotors.
