a good friend of mine was recently put in the hospital. she had a cold for about a week, severe headaches, and slept a lot. one day after staying up late taking care of our drunk roomie, she was walking down a steep hill and asked for help. a group of our friends helped her down the hill, but then she literally collapsed in pain. she said her entire body was in pain, and that she had a severe headache behind her eyes. she was in so much pain that she was crying. we called an ambulance and they took her to a hospital (in slovakia). she had an MRI, a catscan, and a full check up. they checked her appendix (nothing), her head (nothing), and anything else they could think of. she was feeling better, so she came back to my group of people, but then the next day (after a good day!) she collapsed again and we called another ambulance. she's in the hospital again, and no one knows what could be wrong with her... does anyone have any ideas? i'm not looking for a diagnosis, only ideas.

Did they check her for mono? (mononucleosis) IF they didn't I'd be surprised. They should have tested her white blood cell count to see if her body is fighting an infection. Does she have trouble swallowing? Many of the other symptoms you've described point to mono. My nephew who is a senior in high school just came down with the exact symptoms and the addition of swelling in the mouth and throat. A friend of mine had a 16 year old son who was mis-diagnosed (he had severe mono) and died at home in the middle of the night because he couldn't breathe - the airway in his throat closed up completely. Whatever your friend has is not normal. Get her back to the hospital or to a doctor immediately. Passing out, and having excruciating pain are triggers to something.
