I think it's more ignorance than intentionally cruelty.
I've seen many Domestic Violence cases when the Aggressor just totally misses the point that their behaviour is at fault.
I think the same approach applies to many examples of cruelty

Well of course it doesn't make sense - it is anti life , but people have an innate sense of cruelty .
Homeopaths put it down to a latent Miasma ,that has come down to people at a mental emotional level .
These Miasma's are Lutetium -Syphilis
Psoratic - Skin Diseases
and Medorinum - Gonohnorea .The blend of these Miasms give all the mental physical and emotional ilnesse of mankind .
Including the cruelty gene . These Miasma's can be inherited through the family up to the great grandparents , so who know if their grandparents at some time had a venereal disease .
The main thing in life is to be tolerant ( not Easy )and remember our existence here on earth is just a training ground before we meet God .
Incidentally man has weakened himself to disease God has not created it that is mans work through ignoring Hygiene and Diet

I know we have been taught that humans are good by default but the contrary is actually true.
Human nature often exhibits violence, in highly culture Europe since 1900 we have had 2 world wars, a few genocide and various civil wars.
This usually happens when people are fighting for resources of some kind , and they start exhibiting a lets day lower side.
That’s why in the Bible Christians are warned to govern this side and not let it rule them , which has been the foundation of modern civilization in Europe and the USA for the last 1000 years.
Now in this modern age , the principle that has governed our behavior has been eroded and act such as these are becoming more commonplace.
So the answerer is that we all have such behavior in as to a more or lesser extent. But it’s up to us to teach our children not to behave as such and up to us to only live our lives in such a way as to have no regrets and do no harm

It generally is because the person doing these things has no value for life, even their own. Some are mentally of balance, or worse, and others are just plain mean and cruel. They derive a sense of power, because they cannot find it in a constructive way or any other positive way. Anyone that would harm an infant or a helpless animal is an anti social individual who is destined to far worse crimes.

I know it suxs! just imagine we we're all babies nice and cute so innocent and then we grow up and turn into mean people- just think Hitler must have been a cute little baby to his mother before he grew up. It's all down to sin I say-it's just a sinful world and as long as there are humans on this earth it will never change, which is sad : ( Everyone needs to be loved that's the problem, some people missed out when they were kids or something

there is no common sense in any of it. Humans may be self-aware or an advance species but our minds have not grown up enough to let go. So we cling on to something that will drive us forward in life and unfortunately for some, all they left is anger and pain. So they pass that on to others, to the innocent. The only way to stop it in my eyes is to change the way we live but something like that will take far longer then my lifetime to accomplish.

There is no sense or justification for such behavior. It has happened since the beginnning of time and the best we can do is try to stop it or pick up the pieces it leaves behind. I cannot concieve what satisfaction one could derive from such behavior, but they must. How sad!!!
Peace be with you.

I have a theory. All of the things you mention do happen, but we only hear about them because they are the exception not the rule. If they happened all of the time, we wouldnt pay attention to them. Go on hating cruelty and try never to be cruel yourself.

theres no answer to a question like this but eric fromm in the sane society talks about mankind and the human condition. in it he states that man can trancend himself equally through creation and destruction. you might wanna check out his books but apart from that only study into the behaviour of such people will produce any kind of answer.
