is the engine as reliable over 100,000 miles & is it prone to any mechanical problems

The Millenia S is definitely the nicer car and was popular in the black community. Like the 1st poster said, any supercharged/turbocharged car is going to have more mechanical problems as it ages. Now, will it be enough problems/cost to make you not want to own it and instead own a vanilla Accord? That is up to you, but since you are buying a car that old its likely because you can't afford or don't want the expense of a newer car...so you'd be better off with the Accord.

From a day to day the car starts every time standpoint it is a matter of personal preference but if you want to have a car that is more interesting or you don't want to be just another person blending in to the sea of blandness than I would pick the Mazda. After all when was the last time you heard yourself say, "Oh look, an Accord!" I admit I do still notice the 1985 Accord SEi's but only because they are one of the rarest Honda sedans made and I once had one. With either a Honda or Mazda I would not worry about reliability past the 100,000 mile mark but after the 200,000 mile mark with the Honda be prepared to treat it nicely and do expensive repairs and with the Mazda beat the crap out of it since that is what they like and drive it for another 200,000 miles.

Miller Cycle 2.3 liter V-6 with a Lysome supercharger 23 pounds of boost intercoolers complex mechanically hard to service anywhere other than the dealer. Mazda's Millenia while a nice looking car is chocked full of things that will break and wear out at over 100k that will cost lots of money to fix. For example a Knock sensor is under the intake manifold and takes 5 hours to change. Or a Honda? Go with the Accord.

Accord is built to last if you take car of it, 100,000 is really just breaking the car in. Mazda over 100,000 means you better have deep pockets..lol Good car up until the 100,000 mark..if buying used, leave the Mazda where you found it and run!!
