i am a wigan season ticket holder and i`m gutted. i dont believe he has been tapped up as his reason for leaving is that he needs a break from football.if that wasnt true he would have said that he thought it was time to move on , needed a new challenge, took the club as far as he can, etc etc. he is well known as an honest man but time will tell. we wish him all the best and thank him for everything hes done...i`m gutted, but not surprised.

I do not think it makes much difference if he has resigned. He did well to get Wigan into the premiership and hold their own in the first season but what has he done this season with more or less the same players. He seems to be a nice chap but I would not put him in the list of top managers. Their is always speculation about managers at this time of the season. I bet someone somewhere has heard a rumour about a certain manager leaving or being sacked. Wigan will carry on and perhaps a change of manager will be good for the club. Whoever is in charge next season will find it hard to get the club straight back into the premiership. Allardyce will definitely go to Newcastle and Southgate is safe. The man most at risk is Pearce but I am hoping they stick with him as he is a straight talking man who has passion and desire to win. I think with a decent striker Man City could do quite well next year.

Great news for the club that sign him. He is a very good manager. Jewel probably thinks that he cannot take Wigan any further.

Perhaps he knows that Wigan will find it difficult to stay up next season? If the club goes down, it won't come back.

The lack of supporters that turn up each week, could be another factor for his resignation.

Bad news for Wigan, I bet their fan is upset. The way they left the ground against West Ham was a disgrace. They don't deserve a manager as good as Paul Jewell. I hear Glen Roeder is available, he has got a great record for getting clubs relegated. I couldn't be more pleased for their whinging chairman.

I am realy sad to hear that, I loved Paul Jewell, he seemed like a really decent bloke. That is a shame, Paul Jewell is the only reason I felt slightly ok yesterday after Sheffield were relegated 'cos I really like him! I was also gutted to see West Ham stay up, it should have been Wigan and Sheffield cos they have the funniest and most honest managers in the league, its a shame, now we have lost Paul Jewel, Neil Warnock and Chris Coleman this year, the 3 most honest and funny men in the game :(

Bit of a surprise!

Time will tell if it is good or bad. I think he's a top manager but maybe the players he is working with won't respond to him anymore?
Maybe he and the club need a new direction.

I would not be the least bit surpised to see Paul Jewell and Stuart Pearce swap jobs.

nicely i'm not sure yet i think of Paul Jewell have been given them to the terrific of the League Cup interior the 2005 / 06 season, the place they lost to guy.United. He stored them up interior the 2006/07 season yet resigned an afternoon later. i might say Paul Jewell is a greater influential supervisor by fact of those motives.
