this war situation has raised a lot of emotion in all of us. none of us are immune from the feelings of sadness & horror that are elicited daily upon watching the news.

how many realize that when they spew hatred for bush & his policies (this war), he is acutely aware of their feelings & criticism.

yet, he has done & continues to do what he feels is best for us despite it. it would be easy for him to buckle to the criticism, drop his efforts & make amends before a complaining public in order to raise his popularity & stop the outcry. it is only his steadfast belief that we are, in our efforts, preventing further terrorist attacks on own our soil that prevents him from taking the easy road out by doing that.

perhaps, the next time you find yourselves tempted to spew your contempt, you should be as mindful of its hurtful meaning as bush is & realize that with his willingness to absorb your venom & stay the course, he is in fact taking it in the face for all of us - you included

None and they will continue with their lies. I support Bush to keep doing the right thing regardless of their whining insults to him. He has great courage and a sense of purpose they will never understand.

You poor deluded person. You really think that Bush cares in the least what people think about him. First of all you would have to have a good set of brains to be that aware, and as has been proved this man is not the smarted man in the country. Fortunately, even his mother seems to realize that. When the Queen came to visit while his father was president, Barb actually had W put out in the garden somewhere, as far as possible from the Queen, as she was afraid of what he would say to her. Apparently Barb was right, as at this White Tie dinner he did manage to do something to totally upset the Queen. He just doesn't get what being a president is, he doesn't know how to be Presidential. At a worldwide meeting he actually had the audicty to start trying to give the Chancellor of Germany a neck rub in the middle of a business meeting. You are going to tell me this is a man that deserves our respect? I don't think so. These are just the small stupid things that he has done. I haven't gotten to the war. We are in a war that never should have been. It was decided by the UN that there were no weapons of mass destruction. According to Bush, we were going over there to prove there were such weapons, well, after how many years over there (longer than WWII) we never found one of these weapons, but we are still there. We have been asked to leave by the Iraqis, the senate and the house have passed a bill to get us out of there but Bush vetoed it. Don't you get it, this is Bush's war. He is the only one who wants this war, and I guess you. It is not only the liberals that are criticising Bush on this war. He has an approval rate of 38%, I'm sorry, but there aren't that many liberals in the country to make up the balance, so get it in your head, people don't want this war. It isn't Bush being stoic about all the hatred coming his way, he's just too stupid to even care. He's not getting out of this war, not to save us from terrorism, he's staying in it because HE wants to.

Basically you’re saying that we should not criticize the president because he’s “taking it in the face for all of us.” Bush is supposed to be representing us. Stifling criticism is exactly how dictators have taken over democracies in the past. The leader equates to the country, criticism of the leader is not allowed and is soon categorized as treason. It doesn’t work that way in a free democracy that actually wishes to remain a free democracy.

Bush is supposed to be working for the people and when he is not doing a good job the people have, not only the right, but also the duty to criticize. This is our government, not Bush’s personal property. We must criticize if we truly believe that Bush’s policies are not working in the best interests of the people.

Being quiet and going along with whatever the president says when you sincerely believe it to be wrong is cowardly and faithless to the basic principles of a free democracy.

stay the course . . . Blair did and just went down.

Have you ever heard of diplomacy? I live in Germany. The more I look at Bush the more different he seems from everyone else. I think diplomacy begins when we work on our similarities. Over 500,000 iraqis have died since we started the war in iraq. Do you feel safer? Do you know what the mortality rate of an iraqi kid is? If you are a kid, would you like those chances. If you are a parent, would you want it for your kids? Don't blame the iraqis for their troubles. I'll accept Bush takes it in the face. I would be happier if he accepted that he made a mistake. His way is not working . . . you don't need a Phd to figure that out. I think Bush is more afraid that if we pull out, the funds to the war machine stop, and the economy may hit bottom. I have been down this road with our miIitary, and when the Berlin wall came down, I was one of these soldiers looking for a new enemy. We lost all our missions in europe. Maybe that is why russia is lifting up the curtain. Russia has a few new cards in its hand. I would guess that there are more russians living in germany than americans. Definitely, more ex-east block people.

I keep warning my friend who works as a GS workerin germany. He wants the war to stop. If the war stops, more posts will get shut down. He may lose his jobs because he was a local hire in germany. I lived through and watched the posts close in germany. I watched posts become ghost towns. There is no reason for them here in germany. The germans should pick up the slack as well as the rest of europe.

As far as sadness and horror from the war, I lived through the six o'clock news during vietnam war and was the last class to sign up for selective service before the draft was dropped. I am not emotional or sad. I was happy when the draft was dropped although I later joined the military.

The sad part of the whole war is Bush never had a pullout plan. He forgot the Vietnam War.

If Bush pulls out now . . . he would end term with a legacy of a mislead war and leave the nation with a broken economy. Bush is a lame duck. This is not name calling . . . This is his situation. He is not going down by himself. He has already taking the republican party with him. He is challenging the house and senates' desire to bring the war to an end. This challenge questions the credibility of democrats who are now finding their hands tied over a power struggle.

Basically, the people are the losers and some unborn child who will never see her/his 18 year old GI who is protecting us from terrorist hiding in the streets of Baghdad, GI Daddy or Mommy got killed on the streets of Baghdad.

I was one for the war. I was a part of the first one. I felt we had unfinished business, but I also hoped Bush had a pullout plan if he decided to finish business. If he did not, he should have never went in.

You are delusional aren't you. He is staying the course for his and his buddies greed not for us. Why not people like you start to listen the the 70% of the citizens of this country and stop backing someone that is totally corrupt, back your country for once instead of dimwit Bush. Problem is that for some reason he still has 30% of you convinced he is doing this for you. Wake up sister, he could care less about you, your family, your friends, or anyone you are associated with!! This war is for his constituents benefit and that is all. Ugh it is people like you that support this guy that is tearing this once great nation apart. Stop believing what these people tell you and actually think for yourself for once. It will do you and the rest of us a lot of good.

Come on now. Though you have a strong message here, the thing about Bush is he is very bull headed and he listens to no one. Our allies didn't want this war in the first place but what did Bush do? Why does he even have people working for him if he doesn't want to take their advice? Bush has his own political agenda and he always had. How does he sleep at night, knowing that all these soldiers have died because he was chasing oil. No....he is not taking it in the face for me! Many soldiers died looking for WMD when they're weren't any. Don't you have any sympathy for the many lives that were lost for nothing? Bush is taking it in the face and it is what he deserves. Hell, he's suppose to....that's what leaders do! That's part of the job. He represents America. So who should take it in the face for his mistakes and his lies? That, I would like to know.

I disagree for several reasons. First, I do not believe that Bush is doing what he thinks is best for the country. He is doing what is best for himself. He got this country into an intractible war under false premises and now, to try to save what tattered remnants are left of his legacy, he is going to sacrifice every man and woman in our millitary if necessary to save face with the rest of the world, or the historians writing forty years from now, or his father--whoever he is trying to impress.

Second, there have been plenty of attempted terrorist attacks since he went to war in Iraq, and, in fact, they have increased. So, the statement, "We have to figth them there so we don't have to fight them here" is a lie. We are fighting them on both fronts, but the only problem is that most of the troops and equipment are over there, which leaves here pretty hard to defend. Because of all of the troops and eqipment in Iraq, we couldn't even help the victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, or the tornadoes in Kansas.

Third, it is the right of Americans to voice their opinions, even if the President or Fox News disagrees with those opinions. In fact, it is a testimony to our freedom as a nation that dissenters are allowed to raise their objections because in so many other countries they are not allowed such a luxury. So, ironically, by you, and Sean Hannity, and Tony Snow, and others telling us who disagree that it is emboldening the enemy, or whatever the catchphrase is, you are trying to take our freedom away, which actually does embolden the enemy because it is a sign that our democracy is failing.

George Bush isn't near as noble as you wish he was. He is simply wrong, and he knows it. He keeps trying to save face at the expense of America, for is own personal legacy that he sees slipping away.

Bush stole the 2000 election, violated the Constitution and started a bogus war - lying to the American people in the process. Much as I may understand your distress at the level of contempt many Americans feel towards this fool, I never regarded Bush as a legitimate president. I do not support him or his war. TEMPTED to criticize Bush? Its my patriotic DUTY to hold him and his party accountable.
Its almost funny, ( your plea for sympathy for him ).
I hope GWB has so tarnished the family name that there won't be another Bush in office for 40 years.

Sorry but you are wrong, and superpolitic nailed the truth in his post! Bush does nothing for us. Everything he does is in the best interest of his Illuminati puppet masters. You are so kidding yourself, and it is so sad for all of humanity, that there are still so many who cannot see the truth about the Illuminati, and Bush's involvement with them. You see, while they have control of the money, and the entire mainstream media, and all the high level politicians, we have the numbers to defeat them, if enough of us would only wake up, and unite against them. They are afraid of our numbers, because they can only continue to forward their evil agenda, if we continue to cooperate, and allow it. That is why they will stop at nothing to keep the majority of us brainwashed and asleep at the wheel, so to speak. Those who refuse to look and listen and research and open their minds to the truth, are almost as dangerous to humanity as a whole, as the Illuminati themselves! *sm*
