Breaking up; Hard to do?

What makes you want to break up with someone, what do you say to them and how do you deal with it?

yeah it's hard to do.
i haven't had to break up with anyone in years (thank god).
but I always did it the same basic way.
I tell them "i'm sorry, but this isn't working for me"
they say "what isn't? you mean us?"
i say "yeah. it's just not working for me anymore... we need to break up."

then we both usually cry and talk about it in more detail.

then i stress that i definately want to end the relationship.

i deal with it afterwards by knowing that i broke up with them because i was wasting time in that relationship as i knew it wouldn't last forever. i was doing them a favour by setting them free as early as i knew i had to.

still, it hurt like hell every time i had to do it.

Do it BEFORE you move on to someone else
It kinda keeps you in the loop so to speak - far less messy!

bummer is all i have to say..you just need to make a clean break and go on. sometime you just have to be mean.

I take the chicken's way out and do the old "it's not you, it's me" routine. I don't like to hurt anyone's feelings.

I broke up with my ex cause he just can't keep his promises. I never spoke to him. I try not to think about it.

i break up w/someone who's not treating me right, someone who doesnt respect me & who doesnt reciprocate my feelings @ all...

i never broke up w/someone face2face... its always either a fone call or an email or a txt
