Civility and politeness cost absolutely nothing but return to you more than money can buy, when you are civil/polite to people it shows a certain maturity it also gets you further with things than rudeness does. My husband always asks people how they are before anything else is said and he is very well treated in return (most of the time ) people remember his voice and he remembers theirs and no matter what the problem is he always seems to be able to get people to bend over backwards to help him , it is very nice and so is he.

Yes, probably too polite for my own good. I should develop a mean streak. Nah, I'd rather be polite, and let the other person look like a fool.

I try to be as I want to instill politeness into my children.
I always say please and thank you and excuse me when I want to get by. Also a smile can make a difference and costs nothing.

But some days I am so tired that I can be a bit short, I try to get out of the mood but sometimes its nice to wallow in grumpiness!!

Yes, I was brought up with impeccable manners and its one of the things I am really grateful for, it costs nothing to be polite and to use manners.
