Do you mean Sign Language? In Britain it's BSL (British Sign Language and in America it's ASL. To see ASL in action, watch Sue Thomas FBI on the Hallmark Channel..
It's used by the Deaf community for community, but I think it would be a good idea if hesring people learned it as well.

Gestures as in general gestures. If your thinking about sign language then this is not gestures this is a recognised language in its own right. If you mean general gestures for communication as in understanding then:

Facial expressions showing emotions of happy/sad/disgust etc
Wave = Hello
Shake head or nod = yes or no
Pointing a the biggest gesture used
Smoking
Good/bad - thumbs up and down.
ok sign = alright or perfect
kisses from mouth = beautiful
Scratch head = puzzled
Cross fingers = hope
Rub tummy = hungry
Mimed drinking = thirsty/drink
Flex arm = strong
Hand to mouth = shock
