A stranger is just an unknown friend.I don't see whats wrong in listening to other peoples advice cos its always up to you to to decide to take in what they say or not.In that way Yahoo Answers rocks.

We are not talking, we are typing! Seriously though, listening (sorry...reading!) advice from other people that have absolutely no connection to you, may sometimes help in making your own decisions. I even get a laugh out of some of the answers, which lightens my day. Just so long as we all remember that most of the advice is not professional, just as the questions are often not detailed enough for 'correct' answers. Now that I have confused you...have a nice day and remember, don't talk to strangers!!!

What a good question! I know I was brought up not to talk to strangers - so why am I here? Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I have now been introduced to the idea that strangers are friends we haven't yet met.

That's funny...no, I enjoy talking to strangers and learning new info about people and of their opinions. I think communication is a vital link, and even this forum shares in that. I really do enjoy those I email with and chat with, and look forward to meeting new contacts. It's also very fun and interesting, It's all good.

Nope. i grow to be as quickly as jogging in direction of the front of a library whilst this guy got here out and stated "do no longer use computers, they're undesirable on your brains" and that i merely ignored him. nicely, certainly, I sometimes take suggestion from human beings on Y!A and technically you men are strangers to me, so i assume absolute to strangers i won't be able to verify and no to strangers i won't be able to.

Because sometimes its easier to talk to complete strangers! they're not involved and therefore CAN Be, I stress the can be, completely unbiased. Not always the case I grant you, but you don't have to take the advice do you!

It's the 80/20 rule. If 80% of the population are complete morons, and 20% are intelligent....then if you get enough posts from the masses you should yield at least one answer that is a good one.

This is a form of socializing without having to know the person. It is easier to ask embarrassing questions when the other person doesn't know the person with the question.
For example: when you go to your school counselor, you normally create a third person to explain the problem.
