Could someone please convert these fractions to have the same denominator: 1/3, 1/12, 1/6, 1/6?

Take lcm for the denominator.
Now multiply the numeratorand denominator with these numbres.
1/3 = 1*4 / 3*4 =4/ 12
1/12 =1/12
1/6= 1*2/6*2 = 2/12....

The easiest way to find the common denominator for the 4 fractions is by using the LCM - lowest common multiple.

3 | 3, 12, 6, 6
2 | 1, 4, 2, 2
2 | 1, 2, 1, 1
| 1, 1, 1, 1

Therefore the LCM is 3*2*2 = 12.
1/3 = 4/12
1/12 = 1/12
1/6 = 2/12
1/6 = 2/12

Make them all have a denominator of 12.
Whatever you have to multiply the existing denominator with, to make it 12, do so to the top (numerator). For example, looking at 1/3, multiplying the denominator by 4 gives you twelve. Do the same to the numerator to keep the real value the same.
1/3 becomes 4/12. As for the 1/6, you merely have to multiply the top and bottom by 2 to get 2/12.

The denominator you need is 12, which admits all the other denominators as factors. This gives 4/12, 1/12, 2/12, 2/12.

For making them have same denominator, find the lcm of all the denominators. lcm of 3, 6 and 12 is 12

so we hv to make all denominators as 12

for value of fraction to remain same, u hv to multiply both numerator and denominator with the same value.

to make denominator of 1/3 as 12, u hv to multiply denominator (and hence numerator too) by 4 .. i.e., u get 4/12

for 1/6, multiply numerator and denominator by 2 .. u get 2/12

so u hv 4/12, 1/12 and 2/12
