Winston Churchill once said, "Nations do not have friends, they have only interests". Sometimes our "interests" are aligned with China. With that in mind, consider that global politics are really a stuggle for the aquisition of more power, influence, money, and resources. A developing nation such as China understands that it can improve its global standing by encouraging and embracing western investment into its own infrastructure. As the older generations die off and the younger generations become educated there is more of a tendency to trust. However, we still know they have long range missiles, and they know we do too so that trust is limited to business dealings that benefit both nations.

The government of China is the same one that killed 70 million of its own people under Mao, and the student protesters captured in Tiananmen Square are still in slave labor camps making cheap Christmas ornaments. At any time China could nationalize our overseas industries and send us into economic collapse. It's possible that this is just what they're planning. Carl Marx said of the capitalists "they will sell us the rope we hang them with", which didn't come true for Russia but may for China.

Nations have no friends.

A friend might put your best interest ahead of its own.

A nation would never do that.

Nations have alliances.

As to China, no China see's itself as the center of the universe.

They believe they are the natural leaders of the world.

And whats most telling, is they think that its only natural that they should lead.

Red China isn't so red these days. I think they have come to enjoy the blessings of free markets and the cool stuff people can obtain from trade.

Communism was a failed experiment, they are just coming to terms with it little by little.

We are not friends, but we are not enemies either. While China and the US may have a good economic relationship, both are at odds militarily and also at the subject of human rights

China is NOT a friend to anyone! It seeks to dominate the world in everything, you'll see... the Chinese have not forgotten the atrocities done to it. They shall not be trod upon ever again, even by America!

that's the US's financial grasp. US owes it tens of billions of greenbacks. if china agreed that oil must be paid for in euros, as an occasion, the US economic device could be on the brink of crumple.
