I am assuming you are talking about traveling by air ...
Airlines rules about animals vary greatly. Some won't allow them at all, some only as baggage, and some will allow as carry on in an approved carrier. The only way to know for certain is to look up the policies of the airline you are considering. Most do charge a fee, anywhere from $75 on up.

You will need current vaccination records, possibly a certificate of health (again, check with the individual airline), and I would highly recommend getting a tranq for kitty if you are allowed to take it as carry on ...
