There are several planets visible in the sky at this time of year... You might have seen Venus (but it would have set in the West long ago), also Saturn was visible earlier but set not too long after sunset.... so, since this question was posted at 3am (ET), the planet you might be referring to is probably Jupiter (rising in the East) ... but Mars is visible a half hour before dawn ... so the early bird might catch it :) Uranus might be visible (early morning) in binoculars but it will be difficult to find....
Here are some links that should help you decide which it is:

Mercury - low in the west just after sunset.
Venus - high in the southwest in the evening; sets about 11:00.
Saturn - about 40° east of Venus; sets around 2:00.
Jupiter - rises about 10:00; in the south, not too high, around 2:00.
Mars - not much to look at right now; rises around 3:45.

After dusk you can see the brightest, Venus in the western sky. Shortly after dusk you can look somewhat south and see Saturn (not as bright). It is in Leo currently. In the morning you can see Jupiter and Mars.
