I bought the so-called dvd/cv rw device from a shop in lowyat plaza without giving any installation cd. but the device does not able to perform "write" at all. Now the windows detected that it is not dvd at all. what is happening? And i cannot find the appropriate drivers online. HELP!!

now friends told me that the problem could be caused windows which crashed it...but i hope it is never the case..

Have you setup the device in the BIOS?

Hi. I think you got a dud. It sounds like you went to one of those little computer shops and they gave you a refurbished dvd drive, you know, like a generic one. Thats probably why you didnt get the installation cd. When you buy it from the box at a reputable store like Staples, Circuit city, best buy, its brand new out of the box with the installation cd or certified refurbished like at Compusa. And if youre having problems, you can take it back without much hassle.

How did you get to install the drivers? Did you do it online? I bet you didnt get a manual either. You could have installed the wrong drivers, but Im sure from experience that it would be hard to find the right drivers. The only thing you could do is buy another dvd device. Its like a needle in a haystack. Trust me. Hope this helps. God bless.
