Get a small recorder to carry with you. When you hear a great tune in your head, hum it into the recorder. Later you can add to it.

Good luck!

There are some good music sampling programmes for your PC, but they're quite involved. Try investing in a dictophone, or even a mobile/cell/hand phone as a lot have a voice recorder. At least you can store them and replay them and translate them into music. I feel your voice would be the best way to record them initally. I've often had songs pop into my head too, with words and all and haven't had a way to record them. Now I have that way...no more songs have come to me! :-(

Buy a little pocket memo recorder. Some cell phones actually have this built in.

Creating melodies is a wonderful gift.

1st record it, then find a way to actually reproduce it (learn to play keys or guitar).

After that record your little diddy in a computer (ie Garageband).

Then post it on the net and let the world hear it.

Good luck!

A recorder is good, but I would suggest learning an instrument too, so you can actually play the music you hear in your head.

Guitar or piano would be suggested, the better you get at playing, the better your writing will be as well.

http://www.tucows.com offers freeware, shareware, and demos that will let you either record into your computer or compose directly in it and have it play what you write. It is a safe, well regarded site, and I was just in the audio section there myself the other day. Lots of cool music making options.
