My dad called Dish Network and got the next upgrade of channels at like 6:00pm
And now it's midnight and the channels still aren't showing up.
How long does it usually take for them to show up?

Unplug your receiver, wait 10 minutes then plug it back in. This will reset your box and promt it to download the new channels to your onscreen guide.
If they don't show up call customer service.

I'd guess 24 hours unless something has happened ! I have digital cable and when I upgrade to new channels, I usually get them while I'm on the phone with customer service. It usually takes no longer than 5 minutes after they reset my digital box. I've never had dish so I'm not real sure how they do it.

Like the first answer said, 24 hours at most.
If you don't have them by then, call them and tell them.
I also get my channels within 15 minutes of ordering them.
If you ordered alot of channels, like you went to the highest upgrade, then it may take longer. I also have DN. Maybe they are having technical trouble with their satellites.

Also make sure it is plugged into your phone line
