Both have multiple rings, both have lead the nba in scoring, both are fierce competitors...

But I have to say Michael Jordan for these few reasons....

1) He won 6 championships intead of 3 (and don't try to argue that kobe can win more, he's done, unless kwame brown turns into olajuwon overnight)
2) He doesn't drive out teammates (see shaq, malone etc)
3) He makes his teammates better, not worse (see pippen, paxson, kerr, kukoc vs. Butler, brown, radmanovic etc etc)
4) He doesn't constantly elbow white players in the face
5) he doesn't anally rape girls
6) he doesn't run his own franchise into the ground
7) he would never let his team win only 42 games in the prime of his career

But it's still close call, what do you all think?

MJ. Only someone who knows nothing about the game can prefer Kobe.

It seems to be alot of "what if's" surrounding Kobe being better. Like "what if he had better teammates" "what if shaq was still in L.A." That is why I would say MJ. MJ went to college at UNC and learned alot from one of the best coaches ever Dean Smith. He learned about leadership. Kobe does not have that. Kobe didn't want to go to college and develop his mental game. MJ carried his team when he had the flu. MJ endured the murder of his father and still won a championship. How many titles has kobe won since his in-court soap opera? Kobe is a poser and can score with the best but I don't believe you get a championship ring for that. MJ is a hall of famer, best to ever play the game, no comparison at all. Kobe shoots 50 times a game, scores 60 to 80 points and his team still loses. Case Closed.

I have to agree with Jason that being a rapist got nothing to do with Kobe's on-court basketball skills. But I disagree on Shaq leaving because Lakers can't pay him. Shaq took a price cut to ensure Miami can win. And guess what? They did. Shaq doesn't need the money, he just want more rings. Kobe, however, wanted rings and be the hero. Kobe got jealous cause Shaq is 3-time MVP and still hold almost all the finals records in points, rebounds, ft, and blocks.

Pippen and Kerr would suck without Jordan. Odom and Brown did quite well when Kobe was injured. In fact, the Lakers was one of the top teams at that time. And then Kobe came back and look at what happened? Kobe needs to share the ball when the team is winning. That will boast the team confidence. But Kobe only passes when the team is losing, so to share the blame. That kills the team confidence. So way the go, Kobe. You can be hero as much as you like, but it's a hero in a tragedy!

So close call? Are you kidding? Jordan is better by far!!!

But on a similar question like who is best of all times, Jerry West and Bill Walton is up there. Jordan's legacy was kind of tainted with his Washington Wizard stint. Jordan should have retired on top and stay retired.

And Kobe needs to grow up. And he will, all people will get older. Once he realized he isn't as young anymore, he will start passing to the younger players. So I expect a matured Kobe doing a lot of damage as a role player.

We got another Kobe hater here... oh well.

Michael Jordan is a better player overall, but Kobe probably has a better offensive game. (And if you want to get on him for just being offensive.... he made the 1st Team All Defense)

to address your "reasons":

1) Yes, Jordan has won more titles than Kobe. Kobe may never win one again, but we dont know that yet. Jordan didnt win one until later in his career, Kobe has at least 7 more years left.

2) Kobe didnt drive out anyone. Shaq wanted more money than the lakers were offering to extend his contract. So, he demanded a trade. As for Karl Malone, he only singned a one year contract. He wasnt drivin out...

3) Lamar Odom and Luke Walton were having career years before they got hurt. Smush Paker sucked less (if that makes sense) than he had in his entire career. I dont know what you are getting at with Butler, he only played one year with the team, and he played great.

4) The hit on Ginobli was COMPLETELY unintentional... ask Ginobli or the entire Spurs orginization... they agree. The hit on Jaric was a little worse, but i still dont think it was intentional. And if you are going to make a race issue out of this than you are retarted.

5) Even if he did "rape" that girl (which he didnt), that has NOTHING to do with his skills as a basketball player

6) He single handedly kept his team in the playoffs. He's the one keeping them afloat, not driving them into the ground.

7) Jordan, at any time in his career, would probably be in the same situation on this Laker team.

Stop hatin on Kobe, he's the best in the game right now.

Dont agree with me...?

MJ hands down. MJ did it with centers that were not that good, and kobe needed one of the best centers of all time to do it. Kobe MIGHT bbe able to win another ring if he had better teamates and scored 50+ a night. i dont think the lakers are a good team overall.MJ in his prime vs. Kobe now MJ would dominate him

Michael Jordan is BETTER than KOBE!
1.) Even if Kobe won 3 champs earlier than MJ, Kobe never won the Finals MVP, But MJ has won 6 Finals MVPs.
2.) Kobe had a dominant Center in SHAQUILLE O'NEAL compared to MJ's Bulls who did not have much of an inside presence.
3.) Kobe has never LED (all by himself, post-Shaq era) to even the Conference Semifinals, While MJ has made the Conference Finals while leading the Bulls (yes, he WAS THE LEADER of the bulls) for about 10 times in his career.
4.) MJ broke out of his shell in as early as his rookie season by averaging about 27 to win the Rookie of theYear award, while kobe only averaged 8 in his rookie season.
5.) Michael Jordan, WHO IS BETTER THAN HIM ANYWAYS?

I think both have the skills of champions. Both have different styles of playing the game of basketball. If both would play versus each other (now) I do believe that Kobe will outwit Jordan. Although it can be close but since Kobe is far more younger than Jordan his endurance will prevail.

Kobe is a scoring machine currently because his team is poor, that is why he is ending up with 50 point games. However time will tell who is better but right now. Its still Jordan.

Peace,

It would be awesome to see them go 1 on 1 in their prime, but Michael Jordan was better than Kobe is now.

Between the 2 of them MJ. He made a support player like Scottie Pippen into one of the top 50 of all time. However, the greatest ever is Jerry West. After all the NBA logo has his silhouette.
