Traction control. In conjunction with the ABS system it will sense when one drive wheel starts to spin & will apply the brake slightly to that particular wheel and cut power if necessary.
The button is to disable the feature, which is desireable in certain situations such as deep snow or mud when you need to keep moving fast to get through it without bogging down.

In the old days we used to have our own version of traction control by applying the parking brake on & off while accelerating (rear brake, rear wheel drive cars). It sort of worked. Sometimes.

It is for the traction control. You can push the button adn turn it off. Say you are stuck in a snow drift or mud, and you are trying to rock your car out of it, you can turn the traction off to allow you to spin your wheels. good luck
