Just wondering if it would look at it like PC2700 & just run slower than it would as PC3200?

Someone gave me 2 gigs of PC3200 & I am not ready to build a new machine right now. Might just save it until I do build a new one in the next few months.

as long as its the same type of ram (i.e. DDR2, etc) it should work, but just at a slower pace.

Of course you can use it. BIOS will just read its SPD and set the timings for it to run as PC2700. Your PC3200 will also work better than your PC2700 when you overclock your processor.

Save it for your new barebone. Your mother board wouldn't
support the memory. It wil be awesome on the new board,
wow 2 gigs!
