We used to believe in the good old days
We still receive In little ways
The things of Kindness
and unsporting brow
Forget and allow
I agree he was great and one of the best....but it seems the good, they die young...I just looked around and he's gone

aww yes indeed he was! :D i admire him so much for that... his lyrics are truly what made the doors so special and unique, along with jim's deep voice!
oooh and you included "the crystal ship" from his first album! i love that song and the lyrics are one of my favorite poems! he was so good at metaphors don't you think?
i have a really thick book with all jim's written works and i just read and re-read them all night long... he was so passionate and interesting as a person!
"the time to hesitate is through,
no time to wallow in the mire
try now we can only lose
and our love become a funeral pyre
come on baby light my fire
come on baby light my fire
try to set the night on... fire!"
GREAT STUFF!

Crystal Ship, but as far as poetic song lyrics go, I prefer David Byrne or Lou Reed. Not that Morrison wasn't good, but it's all a matter of personal taste, I suppose.

no there were plenty of great poets before him. But the fact he used a band to get his poetry out there is commendable
