Is that because there were people voting multiple times for their favorite Idol contestant, whereas you only get one vote for elected officials? Or were their actually a greater number of voters for the Idol comp? Clear as mud?

Nope, its not true.

The highest vote total every was 63 million votes, and that was probally from only 15 million people.

Vs, 110 million who voted in the 2004 election.

The mode for voting in the American idol is for commercial purposes prompting people to vote more than the vote for the President because a citizen can only vote once.

I dont know but it wouldn't surprise me. I don't think it has anything to do with how many votes they have. I believe it is because of the dumbing down of America. I think more people are worried about who is going to win the Idol than who is going to run the country.

Yep, pretty much clear as mud. It still hasn't really been answered as to whether for this comparison purpose, only one vote from each household is counted, or they are stacking them up and claiming those numbers.

It's probably true. But, it's a lot harder to vote for a president. You have to get off the couch.
