my computer makes noises. It sounds like a fan is running. It does stop sometimes but most times it just keeps running and running. It is very annoying. Can it be a virus?

No its your fan running. Or probably your hard drive spinning up when you run something after a while of not. Unless it sounds like its broken, than its probably something broken like the fan......

your computer does have a fan running inside it.
its there to cool it down.
most heavy duty programs like movies or game applications generate a lot of heat.
thats why its recommended to house your computer in a cool environment

having said that, as to why you hear that noise, i think its because something is interfering with the motion of the fan, could be dust or any small particle. usually the fans are pretty quiet. you might want to get a technician to open up the box called CPU and see if they can understand whats interfering with the fan

It is not virus at all, viruses have nothing to do with the fan.
your fan is either dusty and needs to be cleaned or it has become stiff and hard and needs some greese.
if neither worked maybe it is becoming out of order and must be replaced.
Good Luck

no it'snot a case of virus
there is a fan of processor inside it and also hard disk spins in different speed and direction along with your cd/dvd-rom drive.
double click the little speaker like icon (called 'sound setting') at the bottom right corner of system tray of your taskbar
scroll to find the microphone
click "Advanced" below 'microphone' slider
uncheck the box before "1-Mic Boost' in microphone dialog box.
Click 'close'
see if it helps.

Nah...

Your computer's processor heats up during operation and has a little fan that cools it off.

Your computer's power supply likewise has a cooling fan.

It could be that either (or both) of these fans have become dirty and that is why you hear a noise. Take them somewhere to be cleaned. Or you can clean it yourself, check out this article:

Its because your processor or something else has heated up to a hot temp. it kicks in the fan. Its not a virus...
