Support groups help some people while others prefer one-on-one counseling. But, don't try to deal alone. Reach out and someone will be there for you to help you through.

How terrible? Did it happen to someone you know? It is a horrible shock to the system. For days you don't feel like yourself or that you can function. You feel scared, sick and humiliated. The best thing to do is to get with a victim's advocate at the prosecutor's office as soon as possible. You will need support for a few weeks to get through the legal, emotional, physical aspects of recovery from rape. Best of luck to you!!

Well, for starters, I wouldn't dwell on it. A person can only continue to feel victimized if they want to feel victimized. Basically, you're only a victim if you want to be. If I felt there was something to deal with, I'd ask my self "why do I feel like this is something I have to deal with?" It happened... it was in the past, and that's where it should stay. I would appreciate what I have and not dwell on something that happened to me. It's not like I'm trying to say "it's no big deal, and just act like it was nothing," but rather you shouldn't let it overwhelm you or define who you are.

Get to the hospital to check for any STDs. The nurse or Dr. will call the police for the report.
