One thing this country is not is liberal. If you are a liberal in politics forget about running, you don't stand a chance of running. When Clinton was running the worst thing that was thrown at him was that he was too liberal, which was far from the truth, which certainly played out through his presidency. That man was no liberal. The last president that we had that was a liberal was JFK, and that was a hell of along time ago. So, don't tell me we are a liberal country.
Maybe you can call NYC liberal, because we are, and nobody is getting into office here if they aren't liberal enough. Even Rudy had to tone it down while in office, even though he didn't want to. But other than here, and in Vermont, forget about it, this is a Conservative country, not right wing, and not left wing, conservative.

Cannot, for the life of me, understand why so few Americans vote. To me it means that you are governed at all times by a party that is actively supported by about 25% of your population. Don't the other 50% of you realise that you have the power to make massive changes to the way your country is run and that you could be supporting a party which reduced the two you have to also rans. Think of how differently politicians would behave if they knew there was a massive swinging vote out there just waiting to kick their sorry asses.

Ha, this is one of the most conservative countries in the
world. Conservatives want to be seen as the great moral minority. Liberalism in this country had it's hay day in the late 60's and seventies and started dieing out with Reagan. Liberalism and free thought are dead.

it's not a liberal country.

it's just that the media is very liberal and the liberal icons are engaged in a continual squawk before the cameras. a lot of hot air is spewed in what has become their continuous howl for attention and legitimacy.

they're constantly hard at work trying to overcome our conservative leanings, but most often, they are unsuccessful and their efforts? for naught.

It is a fair question. The answer of course is the media is not that liberal. There are a few that lean left, more that lean right and most are pretty balanced.
No conservative looney has ever been able to tell me why the left wing conspiracy to run our media had more than half of US dailies making up more than 60% in readership endorse Bush over Gore. They can't - because the media just isn't that liberal.

Clearly, everything in the US is not Liberal. Some institutions are, like the media and public education. But the people aren't.

This should be obvious, by watching the Democratic candidates, and which issues they speak publically about.

Liberal control the media and collage teaching, but there are more voting conservatives now, most are older people. When they die off we will be in trouble.
I hope common sense will prevail.
