I'm getting a lot of pop-ups lately, and my computer is slowing down; I'm afraid that it's because of the pop-ups.
How can I block the pop-ups and how can I make sure that my computer doesn't slow down or freeze?

Go to Tools/Options on your browser tool bar and then find the block pop ups.

Clean up your files. If you are using a browser like Firefox, instead of Internet Explorer, then you need to go to Tools/Options again and with Delete temporary files and cookies from its Tools as well as do the following.

Windows stores its cookies in a folder called, "Cookies". You can delete all the cookies from there. There will be one file that you can't delele called a .dat file. It is there on purpose, but you can delete more files from Temp. From Delete Temporary Internet Files, and all that with the Windows Free up Space on the hard drive tool...Just click on Start/Control Panel/Performance and Maintenance/then click on Free up space on the hard drive.

On my machine it keeps popping under the control panel so I have to click on its tab on the start bar to get it to the front, or as it is called, "On top of the Desktop."

Finally click on Rearrange items on your hard drive to make your programs run faster. And click on Defragment. All in Performance and Maintenance. Do these all once a week if your a hard core surfer.

Pop ups and a slow PC is a sign that your PC is infected with spyware. Scan your PC with these to remove it. Both are free and safe to use.

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free.

The best way : pop ups r mainly concentrated on these browsers mainly Internet explorer,Firefox and last but not least opera ,

vulnerability: IE has 68%

Firefox-11%

Opera-6%
opera has got les bcoz it not much famous as Firefox and ie, so the virus writers dont concentrate on Opera so opera is safe for now. gud luck

Note: The values of vulnerability is gathered from Kaspersky labs
