My weight fluctuates by about about 6 pounds. This is water weight due to hydration.

people often mistake weight loss for fat loss. They are related, but NOT the same thing. I'm assuming that your goal is to be healthier and look healthy.

You need to change your entire lifestyle. Eat proper foods, get excercize. You should do resistance training three times a week to build muscle and aerobic training three times a week for cardio/respretory fitness.

If you build muscle, you will use more calories during the day. Lets say you are carrying an extra 20 pounds of bodyfat, it doesnt cost your body anything (metabolically speaking) to carry that fat around. If you have 10 pounds of muscle, it takes calories to maintain that muscle, even when you arent working out.

Another thing is you should eat a balanced and nutritous diet. Devide your meals up. So eat half of your breakfast and wait a few hours and eat the other half. Same with lunch and dinner. By consuming the same amount of calories throughout the day, but deviding it up into frequent but smaller meals, you "Trick" your body into thinking that food is pleantiful and it wont store extra calories as fat.

The trick is to use good judgement on what you eat and when you eat it so that you consume the same amount of calories with 6 meals that you would have with three.

Good Luck!

We tend to go up & down in our weight & there are different variables affecting this, hormones, water retention, stress, etc. It's good you're in therapy working on your concerns to get behind why it's happening to you @ the rate it does. It would be good to focus on what & how you eat. It's good to eliminate all white stuff (sugar, flour, rice & fast foods), eat organic when you can from all food groups. It's good to eat several meals throughout the day, so your body won't go into starvation mode, thus holding on to your weight.
We are hunter gathers, so when you eat make it a complete meal (protein, grain & veggies). I would also start an exercise program, something you enjoy doing & you know you will maintain (running, swimming, yoga, dancing etc.) & stay hydrated, drink lots of water. :)
