PS2- The PS2 has been the longest running system out of the systems that you have just named. Ultimately, being that barely any games are being released for it anymore (Thanks to the PS3), the only benefit of purchasing it would be for the DVD functionality, which is also on the Xbox.
Xbox- The Xbox is beginning to come to a halt as well in terms of game production. Although the list of quality games is quite extensive, Microsoft will soon aim their efforts fully towards the Xbox 360, thus leaving the Xbox in the dust. The advantage to having an Xbox over a PS2 is the extremely well-rounded Xbox Live system, which is Xbox's online matchmaking system. Although it costs 50 dollars, it is truly worth it, or at least it was. Once again, being that the Xbox will be abandoned soon, there might not be a point to purchasing the Xbox for online capabilities, being that the Xbox 360 will be the main focus.
Nintendo DS- The newest of these 3 systems, the Nintendo DS is currently the most raved about portable system by gamers alike, thus beating about the popular PSP. Being that this system is only 2-3 years old, games are going to be produced for it for the next 2-3 years or so. The main reason to get a DS is because of it's convenient portable functionalities, the newly developed Wi-Fi system with great games such as Mario Kart DS and Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, and the increased interactivity in the gaming thanks to the dual screen that you can use your stylus on.
What is my choice? At this point, I would go with the Nintendo DS. It is fun, looks pretty nice, easy to carry around, and, let's face it; The PS2 and the Xbox will not be around for much longer. No use in buying something that has "expired," right?

this would come down to DS vs. PS2
both systems are able to play a great library of games...
but if you don't have a DVD player, go with the ps2 since you can play DVD movies on it
if that's not an issue, then the choice between those two is still difficult, but i'd think i'd end up sticking with the ps2
there are actually tons of games that are good, playable on either system, the DS owing much thanks to the ARM-7 cpu that plays GBA games in it - so without knowing specific genres, i can't help much in game selection. i'm aware you already listed a game, but i will never end up playing it, and know nothing about it, so no comparisons can be made, but i'll put some games in my "source" area

get a ps2. alot more games than a xbox or DS. plus they have stopped making the xbox now but not the ps2. Plus the ps2 can play games,DVD's and CD's.
Only get the DS if you want to play games in diffrent places or in the car/bus

Id say get a DS because it has good new games coming out for it still and then you can get a PS3 or 360 when you get enough. Either way they are all great and have great games, so either way you win.

i've got owned all 3 structures: first the XBOX 360, then the Nintendo Wii, and finally the PS3... i might could say i like the PS3 the main... the media playback is wonderful. you could pass video data out of your laptop with the aid of a software observed as MediaLink ($20). i've got downloaded Blu-Ray video clips and it quite is merely quite uncomplicated! The XBOX 360 is severe-high quality in case you have incredibly some friends on it. incredibly for present day Warefare 2.. The Wii is powerful too in case you have human beings over lots.

It was known for RPGs. If you like Story games that is the way to go.
