I think that it's money well spent, after all, what Else would you do w/the money? Feed the hungry? Cure for cancer? Why would you spend money on Americans when the poor haliburton stockholders are having to drink domestic wine?

I read a statistic somewhere that approximately a billion minutes ago, Jesus was walking the earth. Yes, it’s a lot of money. 2 billion a week is spent on the war in Iraq. It has been a total waste of money in order to make a bad situation in the Middle East worse.

we spend a lot more on everything else.. military spending is actually not that big compared to a lot of other crap in the budget!.
military spending is about 20% at the most! which is= (3.7% normal budget, spending plus Iraq and afghanistan spending) .... BIG problem are the many entitlement program sucking up a lot more that those 2 billion a day kid, a lot more...

SO what are you saying? Our soldiers lives should have a spending limit? Freedom is only OK if you can purchase it at k-mart on sale? I pay a LOT of taxes...I haven't received a refund in almost a decade...it's nice to see my money FINALLY being spent on something I believe in and not so much on the chic down the street having her 6th welfare baby!
To Jeff...bring our troops home? My brother in-law finished his 2nd tour of duty over there and his enlistment ended...he turned right around and re-enlisted so he can finish what he believes to be a very just cause...he leaves next week for that 3rd tour...he has also vowed to return again for a fourth tour if needed..who is forcing the troops to be there? try supporting our troops by respecting what they lay their lives on the line for every single day while you complain about it over your Starbucks coffee in the mornings...

it's 2 billion dollars a week. Anyway, yes it's a lot and it's disgusting. I wish my money was going to helping people.

I have what I need on less than a thousand a month.
If 2 billion a day helps our soldiers have what they need, then so be it. I'm all for it.
