Do you consider Shane Warne as the best spinner the game has ever seen.?

Of course he is the best spinner in the history of cricket. He is one of the few match-winners that can win you a match single-handedly. If the game is slipping away from you, you just need to hand the bowl to him and he will do wonders. In comparison with Muraltharan I would say that, yes he is also a great off-spinner, but please just take out the wickets he has taken in Colombo, then you will know it. And please, can anyone ask Murali why doesn´t he bowl during the Power-Plays?.............. secondly (2ndly), Shane Warne hardly played a game against minnows carrying a Test-Status in their bags. And of course I love his style! The time he used take before bowling a delivery to set field, and even if the fielder is on the right place, he would ask him to move a bit forward............ backward again after the next delivery. He always looked like a King whenever on-field. He also used to clap after being hit for a six. He always loved challenges. Unfortunately I couldn´t get to see much of him.

No. Shane Warne might have been a great spinner but he did not have a trick ball that would be hard to read. Mutthiah Muralitharan is one of the two (Harbhajan Singh) bowlers who know how to bowl a doosra which is a very tricky one. If you don't believe me, just try to find a video of the Jacob Oram wicket in the Sri Lanka-New Zealand match in the ICC Champions Trophy - India 2006.


Shane Warne has played too many matches to get that many wickets.

I think Lance Gibbs should be rated higher, first to reach 300 wickets among spinners, he bowled in the era where west indies were fully loaded with fast bowlers and spin was still a naive and conditions were not favourable to them.

Shane warne no doubt was the biggest achiever amongst spinners.

You cannot rate a spinner only by the number of wickets he has taken. May be Shane Warne has taken the maximum of wickets and also has a huge of wickets in the ODIs. His success and huge haul of wickets have been influenced by favourable umpiring decisions in his favour. Moreover technique-wise you cannot rate him at all. But there have been greater spinners in the game than him like the spin trio of EAS Prasanna, Bishen Singh Bedi and B.S.Chandrasekar together with Srinivasan Venkataraghavan, who are better craftsmen in their trade.

No I don't think so, there are spinners equal to him or even better than him during his era & before that also but Warne got most recognition, fame & popularity so people think he is the best spinner ever.

Even extra advantageous question could have been if we place Murli interior the Aussie team & Warne interior the S.L. team, then see who could have taken extra wickets. in accordance to SL supporters Murli became a one guy military & Warne had to share spoils with the two super McGrath, B.Lee & Gillespie and easily the different leg-spinner suffered as a results of Warne's presence interior the team (sorry forgot his call). i think of Warne could have taken extra advantageous than one thousand wickets then, had he performed a lone hand. Numbers make Murli the no.one million wicket-taking bowler interior the international & the suitable spinner as properly. individually enjoyed Warne for his extensive spinning deliveries & his air of secret..

While Warne, no doubt is a gret bowler and holds the record for most wickets in Test Cricket, I consider M.Muralitharan of Sri Lanka as the best bowler as he has been successful in all the countries and also has better records than Warne in ODI.

a great right arm leg spinner to date he had an undistinguished Test debut, taking 1/150 (Ravi Shastri caught by Dean Jones for 206) off 45 overs, and recorded figures of 1/228 in his first Test series!!.

Gideon Haigh, the Australian jounalist, said of Warne upon his retirement: "It was said of Augustus that he found Rome brick and left it marble: the same is true of Warne and spin bowling."
