Sometimes, when one refuses to do things, one is mistaken as a troublemaker and when he/she helps, one is mistaken as hypocritical.
Sometimes when one is taken advantage of, people see him/her as a weakling and when he/she stands up for his/her own rights, they are mistaken as troublemakers.
Yes, times like that happen to many people I do suspect, and these instances usually happen in situations when the environment is intense and there are people who are jumpy and want to be recognized as the "man" (example from the other question you asked :) hehe )
I wouldn't go into details, we all know the deal about office politics. lolz. That's why many say the real world is a scary place, put people together in a small confined area where there are promotions to be fought and these things are likely to happen.
For me, lolz, in my military and air force days.
There is a term call "Wayang" which roughly means putting a false appearance to the supervisor that you are good at something. This label is termed so much that almost everyone that shows potential in their work and training hard is label as a "Wayang" no matter what he does.
