Do a search on the internet for a drill and tap chart or guide. There are also 3 different types of taps. There are bottom, plug, and starter taps. They will still take the same drill bit, but just be advised about the taps, so you get the right one for the job. good luck.

The drill bit size should be either on the tap itself or on the packaging the tap came in. If it is in a set there should be a conversion chart in the set to look up what drill bit size.

As a rule of thumb make your hole one size smaller than the tap. Or depending on the application you can use self tapping bolts. Good luck
