Dell Dimension 2400 series and SBC DSL?

When I go to people’s house and look at their computers particularly the Dell Dimension 2400 series and they try to install SBC DSL the computer cannot detect integrate Network card even with SBC CD and DELL CDs that come with the computer. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

I have installed several and never had the issue. Does the network adapter show a connection?
