Oh brother.
These things go around every time the price of gas is high.
It has no effect whatsoever.
The total amount of gas does not change. If you don't buy on the 15th, you just make it up either by buying more before, or more after.
One day with a slight dip in gas purchases does not effect the price in any way whatsoever.
Long term behavior does, however:
Because of how supply and demand works, when we use less, the oil companies (and Arab countries) make less profit, therefore they RAISE the prices so they can keep making the same amount of money.
It happens all the time. That's why sales work; they sell MORE, so they can charge LESS.
If they sell LESS, they charge MORE.
This obviously only works on things that they have a monopoly on - that we HAVE to buy, like .... gas.

We need a bike or take public transportation to work day. Not buying gas for a day wont work since everyone will just have to go through the inconvenience of waiting in line and buying the next day.

I probably won't buy gas because I won't need any by then but if everyone doesn't buy gas its not going to hurt the gas companies its going to hurt the gas stations because they have to buy the gas from the gas companies so the gas is already bought therefore it will only affect the gas stations & make them lose money.

If I can, then I guess...but I also got an e-mail saying that that won't do anything to lower the prices, that we should not buy gas from only certain companies. Hmm I don't know.

I hadn't intended to, but I've got a full tank already.
It's not going to do any good anyways
Just like it didn't do any good the last seven times they've sent that e-mail around
