Yes. Absolutely. You cant begin to understand how fear-mongering the news stations and politicians are unless youve been to the US and watched them. The politicians use fear tactics to get themselves elected and the mainstream media scares the living hell out of everyone because they get ratings from it. A story about bird flu thats going to wipe out half the planet or terrorists that could strike anywhere at anytime is going to get much more attention and much higher ratings than a story about tax reform (which we desperately need). And better ratings = more sponsors and more sponsors = more money for the station.

I'm not suggesting theres some kind of conspiracy, I'm saying that everyone is doing their own little thing for personal gain, without thinking of the consequences, or without caring, or both. Simple politics and economics, but with a devastating effect on the US and the world.

Why don't you get your news from some other medium besides the BBC, which is equivalent to American tabloid magazines.

Americans are too busy enjoying our American stuff to give a rat's hiney about all the things you mention.

BTW, if you ever tune in to the REAL news, you'll see that North Korea has declared itself an enemy of Western thinking nations, especially the U.S.

Meanwhile, back home in the U.S., we're tough. International sh*t doesn't bother us. We've got our own home-bred loonies to dance around... and still, we manage to have a great time. You missed our city's week long Fiesta... and what with the NBA playoffs-- well, you wouldn't understand.

I don't think so. Though life is fraught with peril for all living creatures, Americans compared to others seem rather lackadaisical. If anything the majority seem to unaware and the only fear they seem to live in is that of missing the latest episode of American Idol or Desperate Housewives.

The only thing I fear is some sadly misinformed and misdirected sap like yourself getting into some position of power some day and then I will have to fear for the lives of my children.

If you are talking about city livers, yes. But not everybody lives in a big dangerous city. It's safer in the small towns where people have values and morals and a knowledge of guns.
When I was your age, crime didn't exist because everyone carried a gun on his side or in the vehicle. It was dangerous for a criminal to walk the streets. Now, it's just the opposite because a neferious group in power wants to take our power away from us so we can't resist their dictatorial regime.!

No. Americans don't live their lives in fear. We go about our lives probably just like everyone else in the world. All of those "fears" you mention are nonsense. It's just not the way it is. You are falling for someone's idiotic warped view of America. I don't know where you could have gotten it, but it's laughable.

I respect a dreamer. Life needs some dreamers. It is the duty of our military to protect honor and country. To be clear it sounds like you mean for us to be apathetic let the little things slide and just relax. We were doing that before the Towers and it did not really work out.

Disliking, misunderstanding,or disapproving of someone or something else does not equate with fearing it. Fearing Venezuela? Get a grip, that is too laughable!

I don't know where you're getting your information...but I'm an American, quite happy being one and I live a happy, normal life. I'm not prejudiced against anyone and I don't hate or fear anyone
