Kurt Cobain (if he said it) (and commited suicide) probably commited suicide because he hated himself, and didn't want to be loved by people who didn't know why they loved him when he believed they should hate him just like he hated himself. He didn't love his life, and therefore took it.

but again, I'm just going with what's said in the question without knowing the facts.

It was said by Kurt Cobain and you can follow it because they are words to live by. Everyone should be who they are, not be someone people want you to be. Fans adored him for his music, what they saw on stage, etc. And that's not who he was. He struggled with that and could never be loved for he actually was, hence the suicide. But, that was also after years of drugs and living under a microscope. most of us are fortunate enough to have privacy, the choice to be who we are and do the things we want to do and not be judged....he didn't. He was forced to be someone he wasn't in order to be accepted in his career. After awhile it takes a toll on people. Which is why you should be always be yourself. If others don't like it...oh well. At least you can rest your head peacefully each night knowing that you love yourself enough to be you!

I don't know who said it but, the quote makes sence to me. A lot of people sacrify who they are in order to be like. They will change the way they dress, the way they talk. Who they talk to and who they not. Their religion. In short a bunch of things o fit in or to make other people happy. The key word here is other people. What the person in the quote is saying is that it is better to be yourself even if being yourself is not popular. If you change thing about you to please other people you no longer are yourself. So, you must question. Who are you then? Definetly not yourself. You are an image of what you think other people think you should be. This is not the real you and there fore you will never be happy.

It's entirely sensible to me. Do you want to be loved--but be TOTALLY faking it? I wouldn't. I find that disagreements keep the world turning, so if someone doesn't like me, they can just kick it up a notch and choose to hate me for all I care! The people who love you for who you are are the ones you need in your life. Those who tell you to change and hate your real self aren't worth the light of your day.

I don't think he hated himself at all. I think he meant, he'd rather people not like him for being himself than to love him for being fake. I am my own person, I don't care what anyone thinks of me, so if they hate me that is their choice, but if they like me, it should be for who I am, not for who I am not. Get it? It makes perfect sense.

He was on herion which messes up the brain and makes you think the wierdest things. They said he did not like being famous so that could be a reason.

Can't judge him. Don't really know what he was filling are going through when he wrote that song. But I understand what he's trying to say. Be who you are, not who/what other people want you to be.

I've never heard this quote before, but I like it. It makes sense. It's basically saying "Be yourself."

it seems like hes tellling us that hes sad that ppl like him for who he isnt, and that upsets him i guess. so i guess the moral is with what he is trying to say is, i woould rather have ppl dislike me then have them like me for being someone that im not. just like he put it. sounds alot like some ppl at my skool.
