A law should have an expiration date.
A year or two before the expiration date,
for example,
the legislature could either renew it, modify it, or allow it to expire.
The problem is, there are so many silly, outdated laws which are meaningless or ambiguous, and it would take years to go through them all.
. BUT, , in VA, there is a law that you couldn't buy a gun if you had a history of mental illness, but it didn't apply if you weren't in a hospital. Had this come up for renewal and someone said"hey, this is a loophole that has to be close, " maybe VA Tech would not have happened.

They need to be tougher on child molesters. People that abuse drugs should not be sent to prison, but instead, sent to rehab. The jails are so over-crowded, that they seriously need to re-vamp a lot of laws. I know someone that spent 6 years in jail on statutory rape laws, and the girl was 2 months away from being 16...which is the age of consent in Washington state. That is too long, and people that rape young children are given less time than that. Totally ridiculous!

We should make a law that limits the amount of sentences in laws, so that lawmakers can't add in random stuff to screw us.

We should also make a law that says for every law you create, you have to remove an old one. We're to the point where we have too many.
