Lizards are common throughout San Diego, and snakes can be found in the suburbs, mostly in the Spring for rattlers. They are especially prevalent in Scripps Ranch, Rancho San Diego, and Ramona.

I see lizards virtually every day. The only place here you're unlikely to see them is in downtown San Diego, and even then you'll probably run into one now and then. In the summer, we catch lizards in our house all the time... We have a few different kinds, but the biggest I've seen was still pretty small -maybe 1.5 ft long.
Snakes are prevelant anywhere there is food for them. I work in central San Diego, and have seen both king snakes and rattlers nearby. They are even more common in east and south San Diego county, where there is brush and an abundance of rabbits. Luckily, even if you live in one of these area you're only going to run into them now and then - I average about 2-3 snake sightings a year. :)

Absolutely. We have rattlesnakes in the canyons, lizards all over the place. If you're bushwhacking, just use common sense, keep your eyes and ears open. I'm pretty sure the Gila Monsters are extinct in San Diego, no I don't think there are any poisonous lizards. There are lots of alligator lizards in backyards all over the county. I've run into rattlers in some of the hiking canyons within the city.

I see lizards in my yard every day. I also see snakes on occasions. I live in the city. Parks have them too. The only lizards or snakes that I have seen at the beach are peoples exotic pets. Don't be scared....they are more afraid of you.

Yes, it is fairly 'common' to see both lizards and snakes in San Diego ... but you see them more when there is some 'wild country' nearby than in the 'big city' ... and I've NEVER seen them at the beach. The lizards are all 'fairly small' and quite harmless, but you'll need to 'be careful' if you see a snake, because there are rattlesnakes in SanDiego.

Didn't we answer this question already?
You don't and won't see any snakes, you might get lucky and see a small lizard but that is about it.
