dislike, but happy with the resent election
my dear lord I ffel sorry for some of the stupidity these people have.
FYI, the french were planing on betraying us in the revolutionary war. furthermore, if it wasnt for us theyd be speaking german right now. so weve done alot for them and they have done little to nothing for us.

France is without a doubt one of my favorite countries in the world to visit. I have traveled through a lot of the country and have found it to be one of the most beautiful places to be. I have been to Paris and I have been to small towns off in the country. I have found the people to be very friendly, but of course, I speak some French, and my husband is fluent, so I think that helps a lot as we have been in places where no English is spoken. I have found the Riveria to be the most incredible place for a summer vacation, I have never been a beach like that before. I did go to summer school there many years ago, and found that living there to be a great treat. We were students, and young and were welcomed by the locals and treated quite well. I have never seen the side of France that many people talk about, the side where Americans say they are treated like invaders and ignored. I have nothing to say but the nicest things.
We did go over for business the last time,my husband is an art dealer, and it was quite different, dealing with Sotheby's and with the "real" people, but it only made it better. We were invited to people's homes and taken out to dinner, it felt like being back in NY. It's probably one of the few places I could live. I'm a native NYer, and I've realized that I could live in LA, London, or Paris.

I like France.
They have a great history if you really study it and really influencial on much of the world. And for those who say, "the French are cowards," I tell them, study De Gaulle and LeClerc. De Gaulle lead the Free French from 1940 to 1944 and took over the lead of the provisional government from 44-45. LeClerc was the commander of the first troops to enter Paris in 1944, who were, French.

Nothing agianst the French people or culture. Still, France has backstabbed America quite a bit of times. Example one, we had to bribe the French to allow American products to be sold in France back in the before industrialization. Example two, the french used the American Civil war to set up French regime in Mexico as a poly to bring down the Untied States during the civil war, and thank god the curropt Mexican cronies saw the french for they are for. Example three, DeGualle never thanking the Austrailan, Canadain, American, British forces that did the hard work to liberate France. Example four, Chriac doubling dealing with Saddam when the UN sanactions prohibited it.
I have nothing against the culuture or people of France just the goverment itself.

please don't speak badly of a country you've never been to and don't understand. the latest elections in france are similar to those in the states in that the conservative candidate won by a very slim margine.
france is a great country. you can say what you want about the french but they certainly have a better quality of life than americans. i think that's the reason so many americans have this illogical hate for the french. they're jealous of their 35 hour work week, their healthcare system (although the french are much healthier) and the fact that the french are more sophisticated and cultured.

France is a nice country to visit. I've been to Paris and to Strausbourg a few times and enjoyed it. I didn't run into any problems with the people there, most were friendly.
I guess the French Government and the US Government don't get along at times, but its not representative of the people.

Given that the US would not exist had France not beaten the British for us - it really is amazingly ungrateful of a lot of these people not to say they love them.
Personally - I like France - good food and wine, but Paris is way too expensive and very overrated as a tourist destination.

Politically, I do not really know enough about their current Government to make a judgment. Personally, I have always wanted to go to France, it looks so enchanting in pictures and it is rich in historical architecture, the Cathedrals are of special intrigue to me.

They helped us win independence and they built the statue of liberty, so we will always be indebted to them for that. And they were smart to stay out of the Iraq war. But they have a big problem assimilating immigrants; they need to learn from us.
