I do that sometimes. Why? I feel the question is good because it will trigger some good answers that might bring some help or humour to others. However, I did not attempt to answer them because what I wanted to say was already there, answered by someone else and it would seem like I am just copying peoples answer. I dont like to do that. So, I would normally give a thumbs up for the answerer who shares my opinion or knowledge and a star for the person who posted the question.

Maybe they're afraid of getting thumbs down. Maybe they like the question but don't know a good answer. Maybe they want to know the answer aswell so they star it. I really don't know. I hardly ever star questions and when I do I answer them first.

I personally star a question and don't answer it when I want to know the answer too.

Well, according to the bozos running the circus here, posting an answer that says "I'd like to know that too" is a violation. So you star the question so it's easier to find later.

Because sometimes it's one of those questions that have the same answer posted so many times that you don;'t want to add the same monotanous answer to the list...So you're smart and just star it to show."hey that was a neat question"...Like a yes or no question..spoken from experience here..

Maybe they looked ahead before answering it and saw an answer comparable to what they would have said.......so, they starred the question cause it was one that peaked their interest but felt that they needn't answer it.

There are people who plead for stars.... and you want to give them one, because there is something appealing about them.. so you give them one.... but its a question you have no answer for.

Because they are interested but don't have an answer themselves so they can come back and find out the answer later.

They're interested in the topic but don't know how to answer themselves. They'd rather see what others have to say on the subject?
Or maybe they're russian spies.
