I need to move out by July but I'm only 17. I have a minimum wage job and I live in NYC. I don't think I can afford anything here, and I'm scared of living in areas like Bushwick or Washington Heights. And I don't think I can even afford Bushwick or Washington Heights. I shouldn't be the only gay teen getting kicked out for being gay right? Where do all the other gay teens go? Do they all end up homeless? I don't even know where to find another gay teen to be my roommate. I've tried looking for roommates on craigslist but most people want someone above their 20s and not a teenager for stability reasons. Someone please tell me what to do I don't want to end up being homeless. I want to stay in NYC because I want to go to college eventually, and the tuition is much cheaper if I live here. Besides, I can't drive, so the subway is the only way I can get around.

You can contact MCCNY, they provide emergency shelter to homeless LGBTQ youth in New York City.
Even if you're not homeless now, they might know someone who can help you find roommate or give lower rent.
Please call the office (212.629.7440) and ask them about homeless youth service or you can go there directly.

Address:
Metropolitan Community Church of New York
446 West 36th Street

By law your parents cant kick you out at the age of 17. Iam so sorry your parents have done this. I think the only thing you can do is maybe contact other family members or perhaps a social service agency. I will put you in my prayers God Bless

That's messed up! I used to live in NYC. Your parents are dirty for kicking you out for being gay. If I was still in NYC, I would've taken you in my home. Unfortunately, I do know a lot of homeless LGBT people, which is sad. It's not their fault.

so go find an older homosexual to take care of you and be your sugar daddy... by the way, how did you get access to a computer if you have been kicked out of your parents house?.. how do you plan to check the answers.?.... this whole story stinks to high heaven as another bid for attention. or attenpt to " show" how badly homosexuals are treated by the rest of the world...I really doubt your veracity...

You can't be kicked out because you are gay. There is another reason they are using against you. And you are too young to rent by yourself. Something fishy here.....
