I'm looking to upgrade my ram because what came with my computer is inefficient. I know I need DDR2 ram. I'm going to get 512mb. That is what I do know. What I don't know though is if all of the other details matter. I realize there many be performance or quality differences among manufacturers, but I'm not asking about that. Example: on the net I found "
US Modular 512MB PC4200 DDR2 SODIMM Memory" what does PC4200 mean? is that standard? What does SODIMM mean? Is that important? What about where i see 533 Mhz? does that vary and do I need a certain Mhz? Thanks in advance.

it dont really matter what kind it is
just make sure you get like the rite size to fit your motherboard socket
and if you getting 512mb you should get 2 of the sticks of ram because 512mb wont get you much more speed or much more memory i mean it will show a diference but just keep the old ram and put in the new ram
hope i helped

You need 2 of the same kind and size (memory) of ram, so you would need two (2) 256mb DDR2 ram to make your 512mb or ram. Otherwise, it will not work correctly.
