Remember 2:25 is the same as 2/25
and Notice that % is latin for "of 100"
so 2:25 as x:100
is
2/25 = x/100
Can you make the 25 equal to 100 by multiplying? Yes 25(4) = 100
so if you multiply the denominator by 4 then you must multiply the numerator by 4 also
2(4)/25(4) = 8/100
8 of 100 is 8% in Latin (didn't know you could speak Latin did you......)
