There is no statue of limitations on murder, so they may try you at any time. Timing all really depends on both States and Defendants evidence, amount of witnesses, expert testimony and so on. Just as long and your trial falls under "due process" (they dont stall for long periods of time) and theres no bias on the judge or jurors end, this can go as long as both sides can argue it.

All I can tell you is most trials in our society take much too long. There is no such thing as a "speedy" trial anymore and I think as a society we should start changing things to expedite our court proceedings while still maintaining the integrity of the process.

I don't think that there is a set time limit for a trial to begin. I believe that there are a number of factors including, but not necessarily limited to, the complexity of the investigation required, the court's caseload and also such things as both sides' filing of briefs, motions and so on.

It could be anywhere from a few weeks, but I've heard of one instance in Cook County (Chicago, Illinois & suburbs) that took up to 10 years. It all depends on the lawyers and how many games they want to play.

It really depends on the disctric attorney, your attorney and the evidence. It can be as short as 60 days but not very likely
