(1 / x-3) + 5 = (x/x-3)

(1 + 5 (x-3) ) / x-3 = (x / x-3)
1 + 5 (x-3) = x
4x = 14
x = 3/2 = 1.5

1 / (x - 3) + 5 = x / (x - 3)
1 + 5x - 15 = x
4x = 14
x = 14 / 4 = 7 / 2

I think what you mean is
1/(x-3) +5 = x/(x-3)

if so then
multiply by (x-3)
1 + 5x - 15 = x
5x-14 = x
4x = 14
x = 7/2
