You don't have to care or vote. You can be part of the 45% or more of Americans who don't vote. People who fail to vote or just don't care are part of the reason that politicians get away with so much crap for so long. Just remember that when you see the government take away some more of your rights or takes more young Americans to die in a foreign country under the guise of democracy.

Because the people that you vote for are making decisions that are important in every aspect of your life. Paying attention to politics is one of the most important things that you should do. Political decision makers decide about how our environment gets treated, how are natural resources are used, how our tax dollars get spent, what type of education our children are receiving, and how much of our privacy they can invade. These are just a minuscule amount of decisions that they are making, on your behalf. If you don't pay attention to politics and help keep your policy makers in-check, then your voice doesn't get heard, and you have no say in the decisions.

Everyone should care about politics. Our leaders are chosen by us. It is each and every person's responsibility to study and carefully choose those who will decide our laws and such. After all, the ability to choose our government is what makes America what it is.

given me a good reason why you shouldn't be? because, you are a part of the country (whichever!) and you don't and won't wanna allow anyone rule over you and your place without being answerable to you. because you are an essential, functional and vital part of the whole system called the government. because you need to be aware to grow and mature to be a better citizen, don't you think so?
