To settle a semi long-standing question - I contend that a NHL team down two players must have scored a short handed goal. Who has done it and when? Where is there a NHL database for this kind of data?

Thanks in advance!

It doesn't happen often, simply because teams don't go two men down that often. The Sabres last did it in the late 1980's; Phil Housley scored against the Nordiques in Quebec. Phil always did like some extra open ice.

I don't know of any such database; the individual teams may or may not keep track of such things.

Ok For the Panthers in no particular order. I guess also according to the other answers we are counting Russians as Europeans. 1) Pavel Bure. One of the best players that we ever had . Even if it was on bad knees and towards the end of his time. He still brought excitement to the team 2) Robert Svehla. One of the best defensemen the Panthers ever had. Very calm and even play. Was a huge part of the cup run as a top pairing 3) Olli Jokinen. He was good enough to be the captain. Even though he played very lazy hockey at times and played in spurts. He still produced . 4)Johan Garpenlov. One of the best Swedish players that came though the Panthers.Great Winger . Also huge part of the cup run for the Cats 5)Radek Dvorak. Just a rookie kid when he was here the first time . During the cup run. He put up numbers and always played with a smile on his face. He was so popular and worthy , that he is back in a Panther uniform again.

This year, Feb 25. Chicago vs St. Louis. The Blackhawks are down 2 men, with time running out. St. Louis pulls the goalie making it a 6-3, Sharp steals the puck from the Blues and scores on the empty net.

A Defensmen for the Montreal Canadians did it this year as well as Clark for the Washington Capitals both vs Buffalo but both were pointless goals in games that Buffalo was blowing them out the nhl just counts them as shgs nothing special so their is really no way to know unless you witness it
