A person can become a legally ordained minister by any officially recognized church or minister. The church may set whatever rules they choose for ordination which may included extensive training by the church or (like in the case of Universal Life Church) no training at all.

Yoiu can perform marriages, conduct funerals, have clergy priviledges at hospitals or start a church or ministry.

Keep in mind though, that some states require a permit or license (which is very easily obtained) before being legally permitted to do the above mentioned clergy related activities.

Well, you can call yourself what you want but facts are facts.

In order to become a pastor or priest in a congregation of a major religion, you must have a degree in theology from a major college or university.

If you look around the internet, someone is willing to sell you a diploma saying you are almost anything - lawyer, doctor, teacher - you name it. Then take that diploma and try to get a job.... They will laugh you out the door.

Yes, it is indeed legal. However, keep in mind that in many states you also need to get a license or permit. You can, however, use your online ordination certificate to get that license or permit.
